Independence
No company can pay to influence their score or ranking position.
Fairness
Every company is evaluated using the same criteria and methodology.
Transparency
Our methodology, scoring rubric, and data sources are publicly documented.
Accountability
We correct errors promptly and document all material changes.
Editorial independence
SpecialtyBillingHub operates with full editorial independence. Our research team identifies, evaluates, and scores billing companies without input from the companies themselves. No company can pay to be included in the directory, improve their Directory Readiness Score, or receive a more favorable profile.
Our editorial team does not have access to information about any commercial relationships that may exist between SpecialtyBillingHub and listed companies. Scoring decisions are made solely on the basis of publicly verifiable evidence and our documented methodology.
Commercial relationships and disclosure
SpecialtyBillingHub may in the future generate revenue through premium features, including but not limited to: claimed profiles, featured placements, sponsored content, and lead generation services. When these features are introduced, they will be subject to the following rules:
- Clear labeling: Any paid placement, sponsorship, or commercial relationship will be clearly labeled with terms such as "Sponsored," "Featured Partner," or "Claimed Profile."
- Score independence: Commercial relationships will never influence Directory Readiness Scores, ranking order within organic listings, or editorial content.
- Visual distinction: Paid placements will be visually distinct from organic listings so users can immediately identify them.
- Separate sections: Featured or sponsored companies will appear in dedicated sections, not intermixed with organically ranked listings.
How companies are included
Companies are included in the directory through our independent research process. We identify billing companies that serve specific healthcare specialties using public data sources, company websites, industry directories, and professional associations. Inclusion criteria include:
- The company provides medical billing or revenue cycle management services
- The company serves or claims to serve one or more of our covered specialties
- The company has a publicly accessible website
- Sufficient public information exists to create a meaningful profile
Companies do not need to request inclusion. We do not charge for basic listings. Companies can request to be added through our Suggest an Update page, but inclusion is subject to our editorial review and verification process.
Scoring and ranking methodology
Every company receives a Directory Readiness Score on a 100-point scale. This score reflects the quality and completeness of publicly available information about the company — it is not a quality endorsement or recommendation. The score is composed of five weighted categories:
| Category | Weight |
|---|---|
| Specialty Evidence | 25 points |
| Data Completeness | 30 points |
| Contact Information | 15 points |
| Trust Signals | 15 points |
| Verification Quality | 15 points |
For the complete scoring breakdown, including individual field weights and calculation methods, see our How Rankings Work page.
Corrections and updates
We take accuracy seriously. If you identify an error in any company profile — incorrect contact information, outdated service descriptions, wrong geographic coverage, or any other factual inaccuracy — we encourage you to submit a correction through our Suggest an Update page.
Our correction process:
- We review all submitted corrections within 5 business days
- We verify the correction against public sources before making changes
- Material corrections are applied promptly once verified
- Each profile displays a "Last Verified" date showing when it was last reviewed
Content standards
All editorial content on SpecialtyBillingHub — including company profiles, buyer's guides, comparison articles, and educational resources — adheres to the following standards:
- Factual basis: Claims are supported by publicly verifiable sources. We cite source URLs and include evidence snippets where possible.
- No unverifiable superlatives: We do not describe companies as "the best" or "the top" unless supported by specific, documented criteria.
- Balanced presentation: We present information that helps users make informed decisions, not promotional copy.
- Clear limitations: We acknowledge when data is incomplete, unverified, or based on limited sources.
- User benefit: Every piece of content should help a healthcare practice owner make a better-informed billing partner decision.
